A sense of community surrounding the sale of a unique property on Herengracht

We were commissioned to sell this magnificent property on Herengracht. A unique national historic monument spanning 200 square meters, featuring stunning Rococo-style elements in the main hall and a park-like garden 12 meters wide and 25 meters deep. In the garden, you don’t hear the city, but a variety of bird songs that fall silent only when a cat approaches on the prowl. In the hall, you feel as though you’ve stepped back into the 18th century, where a servant might serve red wine at any moment.

Thanks to its distinctive charm and unique garden, the property attracted a large number of visitors despite its multi-million-dollar price tag. At Amsterdam@home Real Estate, we naturally welcome each visitor individually, but it still happened regularly that a visitor leaving would bump into the next one arriving. The people who came to view the property were quite familiar with one another, as the neighbors from Aardenhout—who were eager to return to the canal belt with a garden like this—met each other, to their surprise, in “our” entryway.

Amsterdam Oud Zuid was also represented; mostly former residents of the Grachtengordel who now live in Oud Zuid but would like to return to their natural habitat once their children have moved out. Over the course of several open houses, we successfully fostered a sense of community, which ultimately led to an outstanding sales result.
